Technology! Technology! Technology!
Technology is an important tool. Students use technology as a resource for school. High school students use technology not only to communicate for projects but to look up information and to type papers for English class. In my school, technology is limited. In the morning, students line up at the media center just to use the computers. When the media center opens up, everyone pushes and struggles just to make it to a computer but not everyone makes it to a computer so they have to wait until someone is done just to use one. Sometimes, other people take long to use the computers so the ones waiting on a computer might not get the chance to use it. With more technology in my school, everyone would be able to get their papers and research done on time. This shows that technology is critical in schools and with limited technology, students can be deprived of the information and typing up essays for school.

You're right! Technology is an important asset in our education. Since I'm in STEP-UP, I never realized how the "regulars" don't have much access to technology as much as we do.
ReplyDeleteVery true, but we do have to take into consideration those who do not use the technology provided in the appropriate way. Other students really do need more access to computers at school. If only we could differentiate the ones who need and the ones who abuse.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! Technology's really important, and we use it a lot. The media center thing is a good example. Us STEP-UPpers have it good.
ReplyDeleteI really like your blog because it looks at the perspective of someone without technology. It's very true, technology is limited at our school. I rarely notice because us STEP-UPPERS have iPads. :D

Aside from all of this, you make a really good point with the computers... I don't need them for typing, but the lines in the media center are pure hell just to print up a paper that takes 2 minutes I have to watch half of the kids play random games while doing nothing of importance.
Very true! We are lacking in adequate technology but you all make excellent use of what you have. Give you lemons and you make lemonade! Special shout-out to Raul for his especially insightful and well-crafted comment.
